Car history: |
This is a 1968 Corvette TTop with the original number matching 427 Big Block engine with 4 speed close ratio transmission. For you number crunchers: Suffix code IL , Block 3916321, Build date March 1968, transmission 3925660, rear axle 3871371. Trim tag codes match. paint 979 = LeMans Blue and 411 = Dark Blue. This car carries the Baldwin Motion plaque on the dash and does have the Baldwin Motion hood. This car is not documented as a B/M and only Joel Rosen can document it and his fee is $1,500. I aquired this car 7 1/2 years ago from a wealthy car collector that had 70 cars in his collection. He had just had this car restored by Panhandle Performance in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. No money was spared on the restoration, and he then had a $10,000 paint job applied. I have always kept it garaged. I have only driven this car to our club meetings, car shows and cruise ins and have put about 2,500 miles on it since I have had it. Since I have owned this car it has been pictured in both Corvette Fever and Vette magazines. I have a personal letter from Mike Yager, owner of Mid America Corvette congratulating me on owing such a great car. Engine cranks easy, idles good, and runs strong. Has good oil pressure. No smoking or burning of oil. Has competion shifter that shifts M21 transmission good. No horsepower sucking options. Brakes work but a little soft from sitting and some air in lines. Need bleeding. Body and fiberglass look good. Paint shines and looks good with just a couple of small imperfections but a good 9-9.5 on a 10 scale. I have entered it in 3 car shows and placed first each time. Doors close solid, and gaps look good. Frame and bird cage are good and rust is not an issue. Tires are on center line wheels. Chrome looks good and shiney with no rust or pitting. Has digital gauges, and all glass is good. Headlights work up and down good. Wipers do not work. 53,250 miles. October 6, 2008. |
